View Full Version : MAIL " Messsage Rules"
Hello all,
I am having problems Receiving mail; I am Connected, but when I click on Receive All Mail, I get Error Messages stating : The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'Dallas', Server: 'pop3.highstream.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E.
Now, I have 2 email accounts & one states " Norton Auto Generated Spam Rule "" ! I use Norton Security 2005 but I can't recall what my Original Message Rule said ! The secondary email name has New Mail Rule # 1
Can anyone help me as to what boxes need checked in @#'s 1 & 2, then what should box 4 should read; my Reply To addy ? Also, I don't even know how this arbitrarilly changed as I never go to the Mail Message Rule link.
ArghhhhhhHHHHH !
Thanks !
Dallas

Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It provides no additional protection and even Symantec says it's not necessary:
Disabling email protection does not leave you vulnerable to viruses and malicious software in email. It is a separate layer of protection in addition to Auto-Protect. Auto-Protect scans any incoming files, including email, as they are saved to your hard drive. As long as you keep your virus definitions up to date with LiveUpdate, and keep Auto-Protect enabled and set to scan files as they are created or downloaded, your system is fully protected.

Sorry, 1 more thing.
In Control Panel> DIal Up Networking, I have my 2 email account icons - should there be only 1 ? I have & want 2 separate email. accounts, yet thru the same ISP. As it is now, I can click on the "From To" line & simply change from 1 addy to the other. Does this go back to Message Rules ?
Bottom line is I NEED to be able to check my email ANd I want the 2 separate accounts, just wondering IF I need 2 Icons showing.
Again, many thanks

Hi Dallas,
In Dial Up Networking there can be a (DUN) connection for one or more dialup numbers to connect to your ISP. A (DUN) shortcut or two can be effectively used on the Quick Launch toolbar. No matter what connection used Outlook Express should connect to the Internet and your ISP's mail servers. Both accounts would be in the same Outlook Express. Message delivery to other user created folders can be accomplished by mail message rules. Do not use the name of a default OE folder, i.e., a second "Inbox."
Any message filtering for spam or virus can cause a connection problem or worse when using Outlook Express.
