Somewhere else in here I saw several references to 5 Gig
being a size limit for MM2, so you might try a search for 5
G or maybe Limit. Lots of advice was given, esp by John
Kelly.

tape and I keep getting errors - i.e. "your movie was not
sucessfully saved", my guess is because the file is too
large (it works on smaller files). I am using a new/emptyy
40 gig external hard drive NTFS formatted, so there should
be plenty of space. Is there a max size that generally
works? Is there a better way than cutting the video into
smaller parts - it messes up the title overlays since they
dont move when you delete video , and it doesn't work well
when you try to piece it together and there are transitions
(fades).

Hello again,

Movie Maker has no set or defined maximum for file size. However the various
file management systems have limits of their own. FAT32 for example limits the
size of ANY file created by ANY program to just 4GB. The NTFS system has no
limit that is worth mentioning....there are no domestic hard drives big enough
that could hold such a file. When the new file system comes out, maybe next
year, the file size is measured in Terabytes.

The above information is available from my website or the help file that comes
with Movie Maker.
