Background info:

E: drive has 7.64 gigabytes of free space.
E:\cs (target folder for my movie) is NOT read-only or
system.
I have 512 mb of RAM (390 free at any time) - the entire
uncompressed movie is 76mb.
All clips i'm importing are using divx 5.2 avi codecs.
No pictures or audio involved.

Process:

After adding my clips to the storyboard, i go to save
them as a movie.

The wizard shows up, i choose "My Computer" as save
location.

I name the movie "CSvid"
Location i save to is "E:\cs"

In format section i have tried all options.

I get the following error:

Windows Movie Maker cannot save the movie to the
specified location. Verify that the original source files
used in your movie are still available, that the saving
location is still available, and that there is enough
free disk space available, and then try again.

Clearly i have the disk space, and since i do not change
any of my clips (or move them on hard drive) the source
files do not change from import time to compile time.

The folder "E:\cs" remains on hard drive entire time. So
that isn't the problem either. And as i mentioned above
it isnt read only or system.

Attempts i have made to fix:

Re-registered dll's successfully.
Re-installed movie maker 2.
Re-installed all codecs.
Saved to various drives and locations (no luck).
Re-imported clips into movie maker 2.
Tried it with and without audio.
Tried every format available, same error everytime.

1 last thing that may be vital... I used this program
quite extensively on Microsoft Windows XP Professional
without any troubles, however this time i am using
Microsoft Windows XP 2003 Professional with Service Pack
1.

Hello there,

DivX does not work well with Movie Maker. I can't say whether that is true for
the latest DivX. If it is, then you have to do two things...convert the files
to AVI perhaps and render the DivX codecs unavailable. I have a utility on my
website called Rename Codecs that should solve that side of things for you. If
you decide to use it check out the short FAQ on the site for
instructions....its very easy...just use the Auto rename optionb and let it get
on with it.

I am having the same area and are getting nowhere this is important is there anything else
