When I try to drag and drop a transition, I am
immediately taken back to the desktop.
Someone told me that there was a problem developed with
Windows XP Movie Maker and they thought there was a
download that would fix the problem. In 2003, I was able
to drag transitions but not now. Can you help?

That's a fairly common issue. Check the Problem Solving > Acceleration and
Codecs page of my site.
