I am running Win XP Pro and MM2 with Sp2. Had the
problem B4 Sp2 also. Two issues are the same actually:
When I run MM2 and open/import a movie file type and
error window pops up saying (in a frame that says Visual
C++) "Runtime Error. Abnormal program termination.
C:\program location\moviemaker.exe." Then MM2 crashes
and drops me back to the desktop.
The second issue is the same; if I go to windows explorer
and open up the folders to My Videos and dclick on any
movie file (MPEG,etc) the exact same window error pops
up.
This is a SERIOUS problem for me and I need HELP NOW if
anyone can offer some. I have the latest drivers and
everything otherwise is working fine. Am using an ATI
7500 All in One and have for years.

THANK YOU THANK YOU if you can help.

Hi,

Would it be possible to post back the bucket number for
the crash? This will help us determine the problem, and to
see where the failure occurs.

Here's how to get the bucket number:
1. Use Movie Maker to generate the crash. When you are
prompted to send the data to MS, please do so!
2. Immediately after sending the data, go to "Control
Panel" | "Administrative tools" | "Event viewer". This
will launch the event viewer for your system.
3. In Event viewer, choose "Application" node of the tree.
4. Sort the data by "Date", and scroll to the most recent
entries.
5. Look for entries whose "Type" is "error" and have
red "X" icons. Double click on them to "open" them.
6. One of the last (most recent) red entries should have
a "bucket number" in the description field.

Thanks,
Dave

his from another poster...solved my problem EXACTLY. Thank you for the try
though
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, I actually solved my own problem (not much help on this forum) ...
funny ... I seem to solve all of my own problems lately. SO, this may be of
help to you too.

When I upgraded to SP2, coincidentally, I also deleted Studio 8, which was
another program I had to do video editing.

It seems by deleting Studio 8, it also deleted necessary files for MM2 to
run properly. I reinstalled Studio 8, and miraculously, MM2 runs fine now.

Did you do something similar?

Good luck!

Dave.
