View Full Version : a jpg file views OK on Win XP, but not on Win 2K
I have a jpg file at: http://www.ee.duke.edu/~ag/lg012.jpg.
The file loads just fine in either IE 6.0 or Mozilla on my Windows XP system at work.
However, it doesn't load in either on my Windows 2000 system at home. In IE 6.0, I just get the little box with the red X in it. In Mozilla, I get the following error:
--- The image "http://www.ee.duke.edu/~ag/lg012.jpg" cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. ---
I'd appreciate any help with what might be causing this.
Thanks, Anoop

That file is not valid jpg file. Internet Explorer recognizes it to be some sort of "ART" file, so the file should be named as lg012.art. I don't know which program can produce art files.

AOL ART Image Format Support: Be prepared to view Web images created in the AOL ART file format, which are common on pages hosted by America Online. Download it now and you won't have to wait for this component to install the first time you encounter a Web page that contains an AOL ART

This says that AOL ART is supported in a typical install for Internet Explorer which is what I have. However, it doesn't work for me, so there may be some other setting that I'm missing.
I'm using IE 6.0 with the Typical Install options.

Thanks for all the info. I did a web search on Windows 2000 support for AOL ART and came across the following update: http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/recommended/aolfix/default.asp. Installing this update fixed the problem!
