ok this might seem stupid compared to the problems listed
on here right now..
but, i am a windows 2000 user and i need to know how i
can find my ip address? i have tried clicking start, run
and typing winipcfg but it doesnt seem to work?
please can anyone help me? i'd be very thankful

Assuming your local machine IP.
Start, Run..., cmd /k
(or other method to get to a CMD command prompt)
ipconfig /all
(also see ipconfig /?)
If you want the public IP of a NAT router, you need other
tools/methods.

From the command prompt type ipconfig
it will give you a list of switches to use with it.
There is also the Wntipcfg.exe: Windows NT IPConfig Utility
which is prettty much like using winipcfg in Windows 98,
you can download it from here:

pcfg/1.00.0.1/nt5/en-us/WntIpcfg_setup.exe
You can get some basic info about it here:
