I have had a new hard drive fitted now windows 2000 keeps
asking me for a 25 character c d key which I do not have

You should probably be asking a question like that in a newsgroup that deals
with installation issues for that operating system. This newsgroup deals
with administrative batch scripting, for which an operational computer is a
requirement.
