View Full Version : Can't open file
Hi,
I have a problem with some file system. So, I cannot open or delete files,
the message display: "The file can not be accessed by the system".
The problem occur after reinstalling Windows 2000. I supposed the Remove
Storage Service cause this problem, so that I tried to remove Remote Storage
Service, but no result.
More Info: Must of the files can be accessed, but some files can not. When
opening the properties of the Unacceessible File, no security tab on the
properties dialog box (but can see security tab on the properties of the
accessible files).
If anyone know how to recorver or remove this files, please help me.
Thanks
Q.Thanh

set for users that don't exist after the re-installation. You need to run
as an administrator and take ownership of the files:

<RANT ON>
Look at
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;262320
and then find a corner to have a cry in - if it applies to you!
I've got a similar problem after installing a second copy of W2K Adv
Svr and trying to use RIS.
The fact that some halfwit at MS was allowed to invent a method
(reparse points) which means I can't access some of my files has
finally convinced me to get up to speed on Linux.
I particularly liked the bit in 'Resolution' which says
"you need to know what the TAG value is. No tool currently does this"
These people are seriously BRAINDEAD!

rod.crowder@opscentre.com 10-28-2003, 01:11 AM Hello
I have exactly the same problem on my server. I too
reinstalled Win2K and then cannot access certain files,
but others are ok.
There is a KB article on this, 262320 (previously Q262320)
however it makes a recommendation to create a sis.ini file
and run this on the server - I tried this however it does
nothing.
I too am looking for a solution - let me know if you find
one!!!
