I have a server running windows 2000 advanced server. It has an HBA in it
that is connected to our SAN. There is nearly 1tb of space allocated to that
server, broken into many logical, NTFS volumes. Some are mounted with drive
letters (X:, G:, O:, et al). Some are mounted as folders under the drive
letters (e.g. X:\Groups\Folder1).
We're planning on replacing the 2000 server with a brand new 2003 server.
To do this, I was going to remove the HBA from the 2000 server and put it in
the 2003 server.
My question is, when I put the HBA in the 2003 server and boot it to
Windows, will it see and use the drive configuration that was in place on the
Windows 2000 server? If not, is there a way to export this configuration and
import it on the new server?
Thanks in advance.
