THIS IS MORE DESCRIPTIVE OF MY PROBLEM THAN MY PREVIOUS POST:
4 days ago I had to move my DHCP server which also happens to be my DC in a
Windows 2000 AD domain to my branch office because we lost power during
hurricane Wilma in the main office.
My branch office also has a DHCP .
My main office DCHP has tow NICs. So what i did after I moved it to the
branch office was that I disabled the NIC used in the main office and gave
the other an IP in the subnet of the branch office.
Everything was working fine up there.
But today I brought the main office DHCP back to our main office.
I reversed what i did.
I disabled the NIC used in branch office and enabled the NIC used in the
main office.
Now I am opening my DHCP admin console and I see a red circle on my domain
name and it's saying that it Cannot find the DHCP server. It has the branch
office IP address in the brackets in front of it. Is my DHCP database
corrupt. Do I really need to uninstall DHCP and reinstall it. I really do not
want to go through that because if I do that I also need to recreate all my
scopes and server properties, i.e. DNS, router(Default Gateway) and things of
that nature. The DHCP in question is renewing leases. I tested that by
releasing and renewing an IP lease of a PC and it worked fine. It handed off
the correct DNS and routher IP addresses too. But the GUI on the DHCP is
messed up (it has the red circle on my domain name and it's saying that it
Cannot find the DHCP server.) With this, I will not be able to modify
anything on my DHCP console if need be.
My branch office DHCP is showing a down red arrow indicating that I need to
authorize it (which I don't have to) But I go ahead and try to authorize, it
comes back and says that all server all authorized in my domain (not
verbatum).
Any idea how I can fix the problem without reinstalling DHCP?

What I would do would be to use the Microsoft DHCP Export/Import tool to
back up all current range(s), then uninstall and reinstall DHCP, and finally
use DHCPEXIM to restore the DHCP database.

Thanks for the suggestion.
But the question is how am I going to export out (back up) any correct and
current information on my DHCP when all I get the is the red cross in the
DHCP management console?
When I open up my DHCP management console: I get DCHP-----

Xmyservername.mydomain.com [192.168.x.y.] (the ip adress is the temporary IP
address I used when the DHCP was moved to the branch office which is
incorrect)
and on the right pane of DHCP management console I see:
X Cannot find the DHCP server
The DHCP server you specified cannot be located. The DHCP server might be
down, the might be network problems, or the DHCP service might not be
installed.
The error was DHCP service is not running on the target computer.
To retry the connection, either press F5 or on the Action menu, click Refresh.
For more information on troubleshooting DHCP, see onlone Help.

Even when click on Action or try to right click on anything in the
management console the GUI hangs.
