How can I set Win Explorer to show me filesizes in MB instead of KB ?

Hi

The default in Windows Explorer is the size of the file. Any file under 1MB
is shown in either Bytes or KBs. Any file size over 1MB is shown in MBs.
What are you seeing?

Carn’t you just work it out your self?

1000KB = 1MB

heance 100KB = 0.1MB etc.

All the file sizes in Windows Explorer on my computer are shown in KB.
zero byte file - 0 KB
one byte file - 1 KB
10.7 MB file - 11,008 KB
873 MB file - 893,952 KB

I don't remember, off hand, changing a default for this.

In "Details" view I see all sizes in KB (regardless of file size), i.e. a GB
file is shown #,###,### KB.

The difference may not be important to him, but then again it may. Actually
1024KB equals 1 MB.

I know, 1024KB = 1MB, although acording to hard drive manufacturers
1000KB is 1MB, but taking 1M to be 1024 makes the KB to MB conversion
that bit harder. For example 353KB would not simply be 0.353 (simple
device by 1000), you would first have to work it out as a percentage
of 1024, and then convert that percentage into decimal, (in the case
of 343KB that works out to be 34.47265625 as a percentage, which is
0.3447265625 as a decimal so 353KB is 0.3447265625MB)

Yes, that's true.

I also recommend that instead of using a value of 3.14159 for pi, you use
just 3. It makes the arithmetic so much easier. ;-)

Windows uses kibytes (2^10) and Mibytes (2^20). But these weren't invented when Windows was first written so it uses k to mean ki and M to mean Mi.

Actually 1024B= 1KB abd 1024 KB=1MB...

Can any of you actually give a solution ????

I know how to make the conversion, all I want is the file size to be shown
in MB.
