We have about 15 Windows 2000 member servers that need to be upgraded to
Windows 2003. These are not our DCs!!! ... Do I just need to throw in the
Windows 2003 CD and thats it??? ... I won't lose any data if I do a live
upgrade correct??? Obviously I'll be doing this after-hours here at the
office ... maybe 2 or 3 at a time, but can it be this simple to upgrade from
2000 to 2003???
Thanks in advance for anyone who can help.

Hi,
Have you read the advice here
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/evaluation/whyupgrade/win2k/w2ktows03-2.mspx
As always if you have any important data, make sure you do backups first and
have a contingency plan if anything does go awry.
Cheers

Hi Gareth,
Thanks for the reply. So I'm guessing that I'm correct ... All I would need
to do is have a clean full backup, just in case ... throw in the 2003 CD and
follow the instructions to upgrade, and thats it since these are not DCs,
correct?
If they were DCs then I would need to run forestprep & adprep on the machine
being upgraded ... am I correct?
Thanks,
Francisco
