I have found that when a certain set of folder permissions is applied, users
can edit Word documents but can not edit Excel spreadsheets. They get this
error message: "Save not completed. File rename failed. Retry?"
The permissions are:
For this folder, subfolder and files: Traverse/Excecute, List Folder/Read
Data, Read Attributes, Read Extended Attributes, Create Files/Write Data,
Create Folders/Append Data,
For Files only: Create Folders/Append Data, Write Attributes, Write Extended
Attributes.
We have applied these permissions in an attempt to prevent users deleting
spreadsheets that they do not own. (The Creator-owner group is used to give
extra rights)
In what way do I need to change these advanced permissions in order to allow
users to edit a spreadsheet but not delete it, as they can do for Word
documents?
Thanks in advance for any help.
