View Full Version : Excel Color Missing
Martin 10-14-2006, 03:39 PM I could use a little help. I frequently create tabular data in Excel
that I want to insert into a PowerPoint presentation. I "copy" the
Excell data, then paste into a PowerPoint page and frequently the color
is missing. The pasted information is in black / white only (obviously
the original Excel text is in color).
This happens if I special paste as an Enhanced Meta, or Embed the
spreadsheet. The color willl paste if I specail paste as a bitmap, but
those images look fuzzy.
Can someone give me a little insight at to how to paste without losing
color?
Thanks

Kathy Jacobs 10-15-2006, 05:27 AM Martin,
I know this is going to sound totally off the wall, but the problem is most
likely that your default printer is a black and white printer. What you need
to do is to add the drivers for a color printer and install them. (You don't
need the printer, you just need your system to think one is there.) Before
you do the copy and paste, make the color printer the default printer. When
you are done, change it back to your real printer. You should then get the
colors you are looking for.

In Excel, hold the Shift key when clicking on Edit, choose Copy Image. In
PowerPoint use Paste special to insert as WMF.
Best regards,
Ute

Martin 10-15-2006, 10:34 PM Thanks, I appreciate everyone's comments. Each suggestion (paste
Object, updated printer driver, and Shift key copy) has been helpful.
I'm now more productive and a lot less frustrated.
Regards,
Martin
Linda Adams 10-16-2006, 02:57 PM This has happened to me, too. This is how I fix it: I double-click on the
spreadsheet and then immediately click out of it. The color appears. It
hasn't always been a problem like that, and since we're extremely good at
updating patches, I suspect something must have been changed.
