Hello everyone. I'm not sure if this is the correct discussion group, but
I'll post my question anyway (please let me know which group I should post to
if this is not it....thanks). Here goes.....
I have Internet Explorer (version 6) loaded on my computer, but cannot find
it (actually, it is located in c: program files, but will not work for me).
I normally use Netscape for my internet use and will get popups from
IE....however, I ALWAYS get an error message from IE every time I get a
popup) Hope this makes sense.....can anyone help?
I have a disk with IE to re-load it, but it won't allow me to because it
tells me I have the same version already loaded on my system.....
Thanks in advance to anyone out there who can help me with this dilemma!!!

More information regarding this problem: When I try to delete IE from
C:program files (so I can re-load it again) I get the following error
message: Cannot delete: It is being used by another person or program. I
cannot find it in the startup menu (when running msconfig), but may be
missing it under a different name?????
Also, IE is NOT found in the Add/Delete program files (even though it is
somewhere on my computer). Argggghhhhhh!!!

You can try to remove and replace through Control Panel, click on Add/Remove
programs, then Add/Remove Windows Components. Uncheck IE box and continue. Do
the same again but this time Check the box.
If this doesn't work try a repair of IE. Open a command prompt through
Start-Accessories and type: sfc /scannow
You will need your Windows Disk handy, if it finds something it'll ask for it.
If none of these options work get a copy, it's free, of Process Explorer:
www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,23780,00.asp
Using this close as many Handles as you can that relate to Internet
Explorer. This is why your getting the error message: This program is being
used by another person or program. This happens because of Handles. Once
you've closed all the handles you will then be able to delete it and put it
back in with the disk you have.
Good Luck.
