Is there any reason why the excel web object is not displayed in IE
with Office 2003 Pro installed? Are there any additional components to
be installed for this to work, or do the web components need updating?

Which version of OWC is used in the application. If it is OWC 9 then you
might need to install it to the client since Office 2003 does not include
OWC 9

Thanks for your reply, but I fixed the issue by replacing the class id
of the object with the one from OWC11.
