Is it absolutely necessary to deploy the winXPe image into a different hard
disk?
I tried deploying the image into a different partition of my original HD,
which also houses winXP. After completing the whole process, in the final
step (of the tutorial), the fba reboots and displays the message "hal.dll is
missing or corrupt".
I tried the whole process again, but same result. The msdn help on this
error suggests adding a HAL to my configuration. I don't know how to do that.
What has caused this problem, and how do I get rid of it?
Thanx in advance..

Hi,
I think you are having Win Xp on C: drive and on D: drive you are
deploying the XP Embedded,
Did u change the default deploying drive C: to D: in image
configuration file.
Please check ....
And its, not necessary to deploy the winXPe image into a different
hard
disk. You can deploy on the same one..
I also had Xp Embedded on D drive and Win Xp Professional on C:
drive..
Feel free to ask any query..

Hi,
Thanx for the suggestions, Lalit..
I checked and yes, i have changed the default deployment drive to the
appropriate one (which is also a primary drive, if it helps). I think the
problem lies with adding the HAL in my configuration, which i have no idea
how to do.
Thanx for any help forthcoming...

Did you run TAP.EXE in Windows XP Pro?
Did you change the Boot.ini in the boot partition to add an option to boot
from the second image?
Do you have FAT and NTFS components in your image?
