View Full Version : problem with a PCI-IO-card and xp embedded
Ramón 10-03-2007, 12:53 PM Hello,
I have just had a problem with a PCI-P16R16 Card (digital I/O card through
PCI bus) when I tried to run a demo example in my Windows XP embedded SP 2
FP2007.
The Card driver is installed in my Xp embedded and napwnt.sys, P16R16.sys
and P16R16.dll are at their right locations.
The demo programs work perfectly in a Windows XP profesional running in the
same Motherboard as the XPemb.
I would really appreciiate if you can asssit me with some advice about what
is missing in my XP embedded or what can be happening.
Thanks in advance.

running or not?
Try running DependencyWalker to track down the DLL resources to run the Demo
application.

Ramón 10-03-2007, 05:51 PM Thank you for the answer and sorry about the lack of info.
Yes, the demo software is running, I get this error: "Driver initalition
Error: code 1.", this error is due to napwnt.sys can not be opened
I guess DependencyWalker is a third-party tool that I have to run in my XP
embedded Image, right? I will try thanls
Ramón.

Sean Liming \(MVP\) 10-03-2007, 09:11 PM Yes, Dependency Walker is 3rd party applicaiton that you can download for
free-- www.dependncywalker.com.
If you have Device Manager in the image, do you see any yellow caution flags
for devices not working - naming your IO card?

Ramón 10-04-2007, 08:11 AM Hi Sean,
No caution flags for the Device (PCI card), so I guessed the driver is
installed well, but when I run the Demo programs (made by manufacturers of
the card) they do not detect the card (the driver is not initialitied
correctly) and the program is over.
So,I decided to disable the PCI card Component in my XPe image and install
the driver just as a normal driver into my deployed XPe image, Everything
works well. Maybe it is something wrong with my component or with FP2007.
Thanks, Ramón

Sean Liming \(MVP\) 10-04-2007, 06:54 PM Or maybe there is some additional registry keys or files be installed. I
would use someting like InCTRL5 or my Component Helper to track down these
items.
Otherwise, installing post-FBA is okay - just another step to get the image
working.
