I have Windows XP and have re-installed a generic USB camera with microphone
which has worked on my system in the past and currently works on my
daughter's computer. On my computer the camera works but the microphone
doesn't. I can't access the volume in Control Panel as it's greyed out.
This option is available if I choose Realtek, which isn't a microphone on my
computer.

Wrong Newsgroup. This NG is for XP Embedded. You need the general Windows XP
newsgroup.

Thanks Sean. We weren't sure where to post our question - there are so many
options!
