View Full Version : FBA:Resetting Setup Flag
David Jones vpac org> 10-13-2007, 04:01 PM Creating an XPe HORM image
FBA completed and system reset.
After awhile FBA dialog appears saying "Resetting setup flag"
In a while the progress bar complete but the system reboots.
This keeps repeating
Issues:
- Towards end of FBA during ngen (.NET) the system said it was low on
virtual memory. Was set at 100M
- One driver (sound) didn't load during FBA
??????????????????

previous EWF existed, it would just reboot. One would have to manually
delete the EWF Volume to get past the reboot?
2. How much RAM is in the target?

David Jones vpac org> 10-14-2007, 03:02 AM - I'm using XPe SP2 , not FP2007
- 256M RAM
- There are a number of other partition on the system drive.
The first is for XPe (alt boot infor for XP Pro), the second is XP Pro,
the next is a backup of the first partition when XP Pro was installed. Ther
is also aa copy of XPe past FBA from another system(I'll delete this one).
Thanks for the quick response Sean.

Sean Liming \(MVP\) 10-14-2007, 03:59 AM 1. XPe SP2 had the solution.
2. 256 MB RAM is really not enough for XPe. 512MB is better. If you are
using a RAM overlay, your EWF and the OS competing for RAM.
3. If you are setting up a RAM overlay and not doingthe RAM-Reg overlay, you
need free partitioned space on one of the drivers in the system. Deleting
one partition will help.

David Jones vpac org> 10-16-2007, 04:30 AM Thanks again Sean.
I had already "rushed out" and got a 512M stick of memory.
This need was eveident when I looked at the VM problem when ngening in FBA
of .NET. the ngen was failing because of lack of memory/virtual memory.
Q Is there a way of setting/increasing VM during FBA?
I had uped the VM settings for my image but I assume these don't apply in FBA.
I was toying with whether ti try RAM REG for EWF as opposed to RAM EWF.
I'll give this a try.
RAM Size and Disk size( when small) are competing items with HORM. You have
to have enough disk space for hiberfile.sys= size of RAM. So for a small
disk (eg Flashdisk) you want the RAM to be as small as the system will allow.
