kingpin
We are looking to move an NT Domain to 2000 deploying
active directory. We are also looking to migrate nt
clients to xp. Are there any problems that could arise if
we do the client migration first, and then do the Active
Dirctory deployment second? Thanks for your help.

Kingpin. You should first deploy your new Active Directory Structure. and
then migrate over recources like computers, users, printers. An migration
with ADMT requires a destionation. This means its not possibel to migrate
computers to no where. What i think you ask here is if you should upgrade
clients to Windows XP before the migration process. By my advice if you
planning do an upgrade then you should do the upgrade when the clients have
been sucessfully migrated. How ever i recommend you to re-install all
computers with Windows XP and then join the new domain as an process in the
migration plan. I post few links below you may can have use of for a
sucessfully deployment. Have a nice day

Chriss,

In addition to the wealth of information that you have provided, there is
one thing that *could* become a problem for kingpin if they do the clients
first: the upgraded clients will authenticate only against the "PDC".
Please look at the following MSKB Article:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;284937

It talks about WIN2000 clients in a Mixed Mode environment.

Cary
