hi,

i contacted iss about their system scanner, following a
problem i had with it. version 1.1 of the system scanner
is part of the win2k resource kit. iss weren't able to
help me. in fact, they tell me that microsoft integrated
this "very old version" of their system scanner in the
win2k resource kit w/o the knowledge of iss personnel, and
it isn't compatible w/win2k -- go figure. so i was hoping
sb might have an idea or be able to point me in the right
direction.

when i first ran the system scanner, it informed me that
microsoft's implementation of winsock was subject to
performance problems due to extended waits -- or smth
equally vague. it asked me if i wanted to make the
necessary changes to improve system performance, and
naively i answered 'yes'. since that time, i've been
unable to reach certain internet services. i was hoping
sb might know what it is that the iss system scanner 1.1
changes exactly, so i can change it back. any help would
be appreciated.

thanks much in advance for your help.
