View Full Version : PasswordExpiryWarning on Win2K server

Graham Hart
Hi,

Users would like me to reduce the password renewal reminders to less
than the 14 days default.

I have checked through and I can see that the relevant Registry change is:

> Check this registry key:
>
> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
> NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
>
> PasswordExpiryWarning (DWORD)
>
> Change the number for this. Does it exist? If not, create
> it

My question is:

Do I have to make that change on every individual PC, or, if I make it
on my Domain Controller (ActiveDirectory etc) will it take effect for
all domain users ?

Cheers

Graham

There is a security option in Domain Security Policy that allows you to
change the number of days. That would be the best place to do it. --- Steve
