View Full Version : Security Updates broke my computer

Joshua
I got the security update alert and downloaded/installed
several reccommended patches/updates FOR WINDOWS 2000.
After the install, it says: re-start now? OK. I now have
an endless loop consisting of "Windows is starting up,"
immediately followed by "Windows is shutting down.
Shutdown initiated by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. The system
process C:\WINNT\System 32\services.exe terminated
unexpectedly with status code 128."

Now I have no way to start the computer, and no way to get
this fixed without spending ridiculous amounts of money.
The Windows Updates broke my computer. How can I get
Microsoft to fix it?

Joshua, Boot into recovery console and log on as administrator.
Type "net disable rpcserver" in the prompt, and reboot.
Afterward, follow the directions I posted to Joe to prevent RPC failures
from rebooting the system, and scan your system, and consider suing
microsoft.
