View Full Version : Windows Critical Update Notification

R Lanni
I am running win2k 5.00.2195 SP 4 with all critical updates applied.

Reading the Microsoft website, I get the impression that there is a utility
(task) that can run on a scheduled basis to check for critical updates and
notify me when there are any. But when I look in control panel, there is no
Windows Critical Update Notification icon; and when I check scheduled tasks
there is no task listed.

How do I know and how do I make sure that Windows Critical Update
Notification is installed and working? I have followed the links on the MS
windows update website and I seem to be chasing my own tail.

You already have it with that version of windows.

It must be in control panel - "Automatic Updates". It can be run manually by
starting
%systemroot%\system32\wuaucpl.cpl

There are also two services - "Automatic Updates", "Background Intelligent
Transfer Service"
