I run win2k pro on my machine as an administrator. I would like to create
log in for my housemate so that he can have his own little space (like
document folder) where he can save his documents, but would not have access
to anything else apart from e-mail and music files. If thats possible, would
love to know how to do it.

That is not as easy to do on a non domain W2K computer as it would in XP Pro using
Software Restriction Policies. Your best bet would be to configure ntfs permissions
on folders so that he does not have access by giving him explicit deny permissions as
a user. Do not however change permissions on the \winnt system folder or he will not
be able to logon. A user will have permissions to save files in his My Documents
folder. Check the drive/root folder where you will want to reduce permissions to
read/list/execute for users and everyone including in advanced permissions. Most
applications will be listed under the Program Files folder.

Internet access is difficult to control by a user basis on W2K as even if a user can
not launch Internet Explorer they still may be able to access the internet through
Explorer or even a url link in a document. The best solution for that is to use a
personal firewall that has different settings based on logon user. PortsLock is such
