I have a couple computers that a previous administrator
locked down with the MMC utility. I need to get into
these machines but cannot figure out how. I have logged
in as administrator to the local machine, and to the
network but still the machines are locked down. I don't
have rights to do anything. Is there a quick way just to
undo what the mmc utility did and have all my access back?

Thanks,

Mark

If you are getting locked out as a local administrator, the policy was
configured on the local machine via Gpedit.msc as local Group Policy since
user configuration at the domain level does not apply to non domain users. I
would try logging onto another non locked down computer on the network with
the same logon name/password as a user that has administrator credentials on
the locked out machine and then using the mmc snapin for Group Policy -
other machine/browse access the remote local Group Policy and reconfigure
it. Also check that the administrators group has full permissions to the
\winnt\system32\group policy folder, subfolders, and files as he may have
applied local Group Policy filtering which would prevent use of gpedit.msc
to manage local Group Policy. --- Steve
