I have had infamy thrust upon me in terms of managing a 5 machine network (1
is a Win2000 server) in our lab. One of the machines on the net has the
Audit Policies set to catch about everything. This makes for a huge log
file! In trying to change the Audit Policy, I found that everything seems
to be locked down. This despite being logged as the local administrator on
the machine.

Are permissions for auditing managed somewhere else? How can the local
administrator be denied access?

Any comments or references will be greatly appreciated!!

Domain policies take precedence over any local system policy. A DC is a
good place to start huntin'.
