this is an old machine that was set back up. I cant find
out what is on the system because no one knows what the
password was. Can I break into the system and change the
password some how

Plug the HD into another computer may solve your problem.

Putz
Look into a tool called "ERD Commander". I've used this
to boot from it and it enabled you to load the registry
into "DOS" windows it gives you and their is a command you
can issue that will let you set the admin password to
anything you want. Reboot & VOILA! Works like a charm!
WARNING!!!! DO NOT LET THIS TOOL GET INTO THE WRONG
HANDS!!
