View Full Version : Connecting a printer in XP from a 2k box

Storm
I am having trouble maintaining a connection between a Win
XP Pro computer and a Win 2K printer. Here is the
scenario:

I have a printer attached locally to a Win 2K computer,
and I am attempting to connect a Win XP Pro laptop to two
shared printers on the 2K box. I can connect the
printers, and print to them, but when the laptop is
rebooted the connection is lost.
I have mapped the printers going through the My Network
Places, and running to the workstation with the printers.
The shortcut remains in the Printers folder after a
reboot, but the laptop cannot print.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Try using the printer applet to add a network printer to your XP computer. There may
be a couple of ways to do it depending on the configuration of the network printer.
Use the XP built in help and search for "network printer". The link below shows one
way to do it as an example. --- Steve
